Frequently asked questions
what are nightshift lenses for?
they’re designed to soften harsh light from screens, lamps, and city glow — helping your eyes adjust more comfortably at night.
when should i use them?
most people wear them about 1–2 hours before bed, or anytime they want a calmer view of bright screens and lights.
how do i know if they work?
you can see the effect yourself — hold your glasses up to your screen and test the lens here.
can i wear them during the day?
yes. you can wear them anytime, but they’re especially made for evenings when lighting feels harsh or overstimulating.
do nightshift lenses help with sleep?
studies suggest that lowering blue-light exposure in the evening may support your natural wind-down routine. nightshift lenses are inspired by this research, but they aren’t a medical device and don’t guarantee sleep effects.
what are they made of?
the frames are made of tr90, a lightweight, flexible, and durable material that’s comfortable for long hours. the temples use cp (cellulose propionate) for a smooth, secure fit.
the lenses are polycarbonate with a uv420 blue-light filtering compound and an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and reflections.
how much blue light do nightshift lenses block?
nightshift lenses use an orange tint that keeps visibility clear while still blocking the most intense part of blue light. based on our lens lab test data:
- over 90% of blue light is blocked in the 400–450nm range
- up to ~99% below 420nm, where screens emit the strongest wavelengths
this means you get strong night-time protection without the heavy distortion you get from darker lenses.
how do i clean them?
each order comes with a microfibre cloth that you can use to clean your glasses. we also recommend using a gentle lens cleaner, and to avoid using paper towels or alcohol-based products.
